Chicago. Skyscrapers, a big-ass lake, humid nights, house music, and hot dogs — what more could you want? Now put all that on a rooftop, throw in some drinks, and you’ve got yourself a night.
Chicago. Skyscrapers, a big-ass lake, humid nights, house music, and hot dogs — what more could you want? Now put all that on a rooftop, throw in some drinks, and you’ve got yourself a night.

OK! You're planning a holiday party, corporate networking event, or even just scouting Chicago wedding venues, here are a few neighborhoods where you’ll find some of the best rooftops and loft-style event spaces in the city.

River North

No surprise here — River North is always a go-to. We’re downtown, baby. Between the energy of the streets and the sheer number of private dining spaces and restaurants, it’s easy to host something polished here.

Think: an elegant team dinner or wedding reception in one of the many private rooms, followed by a private rooftop event at a hotel with views of the river and skyline. The best part? Your room is just an elevator ride away if you're staying on-site. Or, keep the night going — the clubs are never far.

Great for:

  • Downtown Chicago corporate events

  • Networking happy hours

  • Intimate rehearsal dinners or weddings under 100 people

West Loop

The old meatpacking district, where 30-somethings roam Fulton Market in search of their next cocktail or draft beer. West Loop has no shortage of industrial loft venues, and many come with rooftops, open-air courtyards, and cool bars - looking at you, City Hall

While it’s not as hotel-heavy as other neighborhoods (The Emily Hotel might be able to help), this area gives you a more authentic feel. You’re not right on the river or lake, but there’s plenty to explore and tons of cool photo spots nearby.

Perfect for:

  • Company parties with a modern vibe

  • Loft weddings in Chicago

  • Product launches or creative team mixers

Navy Pier / Lakefront

So you want to be on the water, surrounded by skyline views, and maybe catch the fireworks? We got you. Navy Pier and the lakefront offer some of the most scenic wedding venues in Chicago, along with private event spaces that make the most of summer nights.

Just a heads up — the breeze off the lake is no joke. But the views? Worth it. Especially at sunset.

Ideal for:

  • Lakefront weddings or boat receptions

  • Summer employee appreciation parties

  • Outdoor corporate cocktail hours
